Lovebugs Hate Paint!!! NoviStretch Stops Lovebugs!

Every year, usually in late spring and again in early fall, drivers across the southern United States brace for the arrival of lovebugs. While these small black insects are harmless to humans, they can quickly become a nuisance —especially when it comes to your car’s paint and we are in the middle of the 2026 season!

Lovebugs are attracted to warm surfaces and the byproducts of internal combustion power, which makes the front end of moving vehicles an ideal landing spot. And when you are on the road, once they collide with your car, they don’t just bounce off. Their bodies tend to stick, and within a short time, they begin to break down. This is where the real problem starts.

The splattered remains of lovebugs are acidic. As they decompose, they release compounds that can eat into your vehicle’s clear coat and paint if left unattended. On a hot day, the combination of heat and acidity accelerates the damage. In some cases, if you wait too long to clean their cars may notice etching or dull spots that require professional paint correction —or even repainting—to fix.

You need to stop Lovebugs BEFORE they get to your paint.  One of the biggest misconceptions is that a simple rainstorm will wash away lovebug residue. In reality, rain often makes things worse by spreading the remains across a larger surface area. Similarly, running your car through a basic car wash may not fully remove the residue if it has already started bonding with the paint.

Prevention and timely cleaning are key. NoviStretch covers provide a quick & easy to install and use solution for even the worst lovebug swarms.

While a wax, ceramic or sealant treatment can help that protection can diminish with time and coating your paint does nothing to keep these little devils out of your grill and radiator.  The FULL FRONT END protection provided by Novistretch protects not only your paint but it keep these dastardly little devils out of your radiator, grill and engine compartment (along with other bugs, debris and such).

And when you NoviStretch is fully coated in the results of the great lovebug battle, simply pop it off, drop it in the wash bucket, rinse with a hose and let it air dry.  And your good for the next flying critter offensive.

While lovebugs are a seasonal annoyance, their impact on automotive paint can be long-lasting if ignored. With a little preparation and regular maintenance, you can protect your vehicle and avoid time & costly cleaning and repair. A proactive approach not only keeps your car looking its best but also preserves its value over time.

In the end, dealing with lovebugs is less about eliminating them and more about staying one step ahead.
